Such an beautiful and easy thing to do at this time of year is pressing leaves and then using them decoratively around your home.
Albert Camus called fall a second spring with every leaf a flower.
The colors that the leaves change to can be so vibrant that you just want them to say that way forever.
Pressing leaves is easy to do and something that your children can get involved with.
I cut up brown paper bags and sandwiched the leaves in between them so the pages would not pick up any color from the leaves.
Left in the book for a week they dry to a crisp texture like corn flakes.
Once dry you can use them in all sorts of crafts.
I used them to decorate this simple
Twig Wreath that I made.
The leaves are very fragile and you have to be careful not to shatter them.
Though I have often seen advice that you should place the dried leaves between sheets of wax paper and iron them I don't do this.
The only time I did try it, it left a mess on the bottom of the iron and did not make the dried leaves look any better.
I also like spreading dried leave on the table at Thanksgiving as a simple and very inexpensive decoration.
This fall take the time with someone you love to chose the best and most colorful leaves that you can find and take them home to press them.
There really is no wrong way to do this and the results is delightful.
