Christmas greetings antique postcardWhile we are so use to receiving Christmas Cards at the turn of the last century Christmas postcards were much more popular.

These antique post cards are so unique to our eyes now because of the obvious hand writing on them. All the lettering was painstakingly done to be as decorative and neat as possible.

This set of cards were produced between 1905 and 1913. You can use these in displays, packaging, to make tags and numerous other ideas.

Here are 5 of my favorite antique Christmas postcards from my own collection starting with

Christmas potpourri
Every holiday season the stores start filling up with the traditional bits and pieces that can make homes feel more Christmasy.

One of these things is the winter potpourri which generally is a cellophane bag of pine cones that are scented with cinnamon or other fragrances.

These are suppose to smell wonderful but many are made with very cheap products while charging you ridiculous amounts of money.

Having your home smell fabulous is one of the joys of Christmas. To make your own pot pourri is easy and inexpensive.

Here is my recipe for my Christmas Pot Pourri that I not only place out every year but give to family and friends as gifts.

Dry Skin Cures - Cheap Natural Ways to Help With Dry Skin

Itchy handHeading into the winter season almost everyone dreads how the cold outdoor air and drying heated indoor air can throw off the balance of their skin.

Itchy, scaly dry skin can be a misery to live with and at some point it seems to hit us all that there is one patch that is driving us crazy and it seems that there is nothing we can do about it.

You have to make sure that you don't have some underlying medical condition that is making your skin dry. There are many health reasons that can cause dry skin including being deficient in some vitamins so make sure with your doctor that this is not something more serious.

If it is only annoying, irritating dry skin then read on for some great solutions.

Paper Bag Advent Calendars and What To Put In Them

Advent calendar
In the first day of December children start asking how many days it will be before Christmas.

Many families buy advent calendars as a count down to the big day.

I am not a fan of store bought advent calendars as most of them are just filled with cheap chocolate and even cheaper trinkets.

While the idea of having a countdown to Christmas is great I have always felt that there is a better way to do advent calendars.

Though advent calendars sounds like they are an ancient custom they have only really gained popularity since the 1950's. Being a relatively young idea I think that you should be able to customize it any way you would like.

Antique Thanksgiving Postcard Printables

Antique turkey postcard
Antique postcards of the holidays like Thanksgiving have a charm to them that can make them wonderful to use in all sorts of different crafts and decorations.

I have been collecting antique post cards for many years and use the seasonal ones through out the house during the holidays.

There were millions of postcards sent in the early part of the 1900s as printing costs became inexpensive and the technology to reproduce vivid colors improved. While these postcards were meant for the American market many of them were printed in Germany and England.

If you are interested in starting your own collection of antique or vintage postcards then you can start at the antique malls were they are often kept loose in boxes to sort through. The cost of these were between $1 and $3 each as they were not rare.

Here are four of my favorite Thanksgiving postcards from about 1909 that you can download as PDFs for your own use.
