In professional kitchens no scrap goes unused, their bottom line depends on it and they will make little novelty weave cookies from these scraps.
Incredibly easy to do they have a simple elegance to them that belies their origins as left overs. Add a sprinkling of icing sugar and it looks like a master piece.
With this sugar cookie dough I just lightly and gently pressed it into one more pile and rolled it a few times. You need to cut 4 strips the same length and weave them cutting the ends square. Lift gently to a cookie sheet.
Bake at the same temperature as the recipe recommends but you might have to bake them a minute longer due to the thickness of the weaved dough. Sprinkle with a bit of powder sugar and set on a plate.

What a lovely idea, the cookies looks for cute and one would never know they were "scraps" I've always thought leftovers are often better. Great tip. Thanks for your posts over at Sunday's Best.
