Marbles - Tips & Hints

MarblesEvery summer I pull out the marbles that our children use to play with and place them in a glass bowl in the sunshine in our breakfast area.

It's been many, many years since they've played with them but their reaction is always the same when they first see them.

They pick up their favorites and hold them up to the light to admire their color and comment on how much they loved them as children.

Marbles are really beautiful with deep colors, interesting patterns and the sparkle of sunshine on them.
I enjoy placing my children's old toys around the house for a spot of colour the same way that I would use flower arrangements and I delight in everyones reactions when they spot them.

If you don't have children then pull out your own toys from your childhood and try these ideas.

  •  prop a teddy bear against a pile of books
  • use a small bright red toy bus as a paper weight
  • place a dolls tea set on the same tray that holds your tea or coffee service
  • put a small doll or toy on you desk as a happy little mascot

I usually display these toys for a week or two and then put them away until I need another dose of whimsy.
