Something a Little Healthy For Your Valentine

| 0 Comments | 0 TrackBacks
Healthy Valentine treatsChocolate, delectable chocolate is the traditional Valentine treat.

But what do you give someone who is still trying to maintain their New Year's resolution of eating healthier  (or someone who, gasp, doesn't' like chocolate).

While the whole idea of a treat is to have something special it doesn't mean it has to be bad for you.

You can do up your Valentines box with all the bells and whistles but instead of filling it full of not so healthy goodies why not fill it up with treats that they will really appreciate.
Valentine treatsIs there that special someone that is making your heart go pit-er-pat and you would like to show them that they are your heart's desire?

Are you completely broke? Are a dozen roses at $60 so out of the questions and besides he wouldn't like them anyway?

It always gets back to the "thought that counts" so here are a few thoughts of what you can do for your sweetie this Valentine's that won't break the budget.

Fun, frugal and thoughtful they are a collections of Valentine's gifts they won't soon forget. And while I mostly write for she(s) to give to he(s), some of these things would be wonderful for he(s) to give to she(s).

Making Chocolate Hearts Without Molds

Making chocolate hearts without moldsWhy is it that at Valentine's we are willing to pay the silliest  amount of money for chocolate because it comes in the shape of a heart?

Worst still is that the quality of chocolate that these hearts are made of is sometimes quite nasty.

It is easy and inexpensive to make a heart shaped chocolate without any special molds or tools.

It will look like a handmade heart from a high end chocolate shop.

You can do this with dark chocolate as shown here, or milk chocolate, as we show in the instructions, or even white chocolate.  (White chocolate melts at a much lower temperature).

Christmas gift wrap for Valentine'sWhile you might have a bin full of Christmas wrap ready for next year if you happen to spy shiny red, silver or gold wrap on clearance you might want to snap some up.

These colors are great to use through out the year at Valentine's, anniversaries and birthdays.

They especially look good when they wrap up delicious nibbles inside like the old time confectioners use to do. (Imagine these boxes filled with handmade chocolates!)
