Since our main Christmas tree is a live tree I don't have anywhere to place our presents until about a week before Christmas when we bring the tree into the house.
The plan every year is to have all the gifts bought and wrapped well before that time (and sometimes it even happens), so instead of leaving them hidden under beds or in closets I set them around the house as part of my holiday decorating.
These gifts I tend to wrap a bit more elaborately and I like to use
pine cones as well as bows on the top. I found that the fake snow that
they sell to decorated around ceramic houses and on mantle tops looks
lovely on pine cones but is not durable so if I wanted to use these as
tree decorations latter I would use silver or white glitter to get a
similar effect.
I simply brushed the pine cones with white glue and dusted them with the snow and set them to dry for one hour. I attached the bow to the pine cones by wrapping a bit of curling ribbon around the top of the pine cone and pulling it tight to the bow.I find it to look pretty and unusual and it is very easy and inexpensive to do.
