December 2007 Archives

gingerbread manWhen the cold weather arrives we tend to bundle up in our homes and be less active.

That combined with the holiday season and all the wonderful foods that go with the holidays is there any wonder that in general people tend to put on 5 to 10 extra pounds between October and January?

If in the past you went from indulging in Halloween candies, the Thanksgiving Feast and all the wonderful nibbles and dinners over the Christmas Season only to be barely able to pull your jeans on New Years Day then this year you need a plan.

Lunch entertaining over the holidays
Entertaining for lunch might be the ideal way for you to catch up with friends especially over busy holiday season.

While dinner parties might be too time consuming and breakfast a little to early, lunch has enough time to it to catch up with all the really important news but doesn't bite into your day too much.

We all have to eat lunch so why not invite a few friends over, catch up on the latest news and still have time in your day to achieve everything that you need to get done.

How to make a Gift topperThis gift topper is a easy, inexpensive way to add some style to gifts that you want to stand out.

Since our main Christmas tree is a live tree I don't have anywhere to place our presents until about a week before Christmas when we bring the tree into the house.

The plan every year is to have all the gifts bought and wrapped well before that time (and sometimes it even happens), so instead of leaving them hidden under beds or in closets I set them around the house as part of my holiday decorating.

Christmas teddy bearsToys and Christmas just naturally go together no matter what your age.

Though my children are long past the age of playing with toys, dolls houses and stuffed animals, they have a few favorites that they just won't get rid of.

I am lucky that I have the space to store them and they are usually kept clean and dust free in large clear plastic bags (I use the type that is meant for gathering leaves in the fall).

Making home made Christmas ornamentsGet into the Christmas spirit without splashing out a lot of cash by making some cute and easy home made Christmas tree ornaments.

Maybe your tree just looks a little bare and you want some inexpensive additions, or maybe your going home for Christmas but still want some season's cheer, or maybe you are looking for easy ornaments a group can do.

Here I show you some very easy but very nice looking home-made ornaments that will cost only pennies to make. You will easily be able to construct a dozen of these ornaments in one evening and you might already have everything you already need to make them in your home. You can also add these to the tops of gifts as gift ornaments.
